Gartner Identifies 12 Disruptive Technologies for Future Business Systems

An American Research and Advisory Firm in India, Gartner, has identified 12 disruptive technologies poised to transform future businesses and their operations fundamentally in the near future. The tech leaders in various sectors are prioritizing these 12 technologies as they offer a competitive prospect and eventually enhance the growth and development at a significant multiple.

The VP Analyst at Gartner, Bill Ray has shared his statement on these by quoting, "Technology leaders must take action now to gain a first-mover advantage with these technologies," he also added "Innovative advancements like generative AI (GenAI)-enabled code architecture, disinformation security and Earth intelligence will provide the differentiation needed to help enterprises pull ahead of the pack in terms of data and product offerings."

What are Gartner's 12 disruptive technologies affecting future Business systems?

The 12 technology are nothing but a sort of disruptions that you can categories into four easy to understand group based on their nature and behaviour. Here are these written with a proper explanation.

  • Application
    • Intelligent simulation
    • Polyfunctional robots
    • AI-composed applications
  • Infrastructure
    • Low power high compute
    • Sensor fusion
    • Algorithm-aligned silicon
  • Data
    • Domain language models
    • Earth intelligence
    • Hypersynthetic data
  • Security
    • Digital Ethics
    • Disinformation security
    • Preemptive cybersecurity

Role of GenAI-Enabled Code Architecture in Dynamic Composable Applications

GenAI has become one of the prominent solutions for resolving issues occurring in developing composable applications. It offers free-form text and multimedia inputs and outputs to enable new and enhanced user-oriented UI experiences and comes out as a better substitute for the conventional form-oriented sequential UI. Another VP Analyst at Gartner, Ray Valdes, said, "To remain competitive, traditional enterprise application software vendors will need to refactor applications to serve composable GenAI solutions that are invoked on demand via textual and multimodal prompts."

By analysing the GenAI solutions, as per the reports by Gartner, in the next few years, by the end of 2029, over 50% of UI will be linked to enterprise business processes and will leverage LLM to dodge the traditional Enterprise App's UI, which has risen to over 5% since 2024.

Earth Intelligence

Ray said, "That doesn't mean maps and charts. Earth intelligence is delivering numbers on global nickel production, theme park revenue and the health of wheat crops, to name just a few," In addition of its statement for, "Earth intelligence applies to every business," and "Enterprises can gain an early advantage by creatively and strategically applying Earth intelligence to significantly enhance specific functionalities of existing systems or to compete via net new capabilities.

Disinformation Security

It is an emerging discipline from the corporate-controlled network, including a suite of technology, and helping the enterprise protect its brand and secure its online presence by addressing disinformation through deepfake detection, impersonation prevention, and reputation protection. The VP for Security and Architecture at Keeper Security, Partrick Tiquet, "Attackers are using AI to impersonate executives, manipulate communications, and erode confidence in what people see and hear online," he also added, "For enterprises, this means protecting infrastructure isn’t enough," in a talk by adding, "They also need to secure the people behind it, ensuring digital interactions remain authentic and trusted.

To put more light on that, the Gartner's Senior Director Analyst, Alfredo Ramirez IV. "Disinformation attacks use external infrastructure like social media and originate from areas with limited legal oversight," he again added, "Tech leaders must add 'disinformation-proofing' to products by using AI/machine learning for content verification and data provenance tracking to help users discern the truth.

Disruptive Dozen

According to Enderle Group's president and principal analyst, Rob Enderle, "Polyfunctional robots will be capable of performing an increasing number of jobs currently done by humans," by adding, "Putting in place the support structure for these robots and programs to retrain or eliminate the then redundant employees will require a great deal of planning, time, and effort and will certainly disrupt operations during implementation, particularly if the site is unionized.

"Hypersynthetic data will make creating LLMs far easier and faster,” Enderle said, putting more focus on it. “However, the potential for this data to be unreliable increases significantly the farther you get from data with a more factual foundation. Quality has suffered significantly during the AI rollout, and hypersynthetic data could increase that exposure significantly.

Top trending strategic technology by Gartner

Gartner's analysts have introduced some of the top strategic technology trends for the year 2025, which revolve around three major themes: AI imperatives and risks, new frontiers of computing, and human-machine synergy. Taking these into consideration can help business organisations to step safely into the future with each technology to defeat obstacles to productivity, security, and innovation thoroughly.

  • Agentic AI
