Is MBA Better than PGDBM ?
In the context of India, professional degree courses such as BBA, MBA, M.Tech., etc. can only be offered by a University. Institutions that are not affiliated to any university cannot offer these courses. Thus, institutions not affiliated to any university or are autonomous bodies offer courses like PGDBM or Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Management.
MBA v/s PGDBM
While MBA is a post-graduate Master’s degree course, PGDBM is a post-graduate diploma course in business management. Each of the two, degree or diploma, are appropriate for specific fields or career goals. Both are completed in the two-year time period. The emphasis of MBA is more theoretical whereas PGDBM focuses more on the technical aspects.
Is MBA better than PGDBM? Now when you know the difference between the two courses, you can answer this question yourself by looking at the subjects that are covered under both the courses differently.
Some of the subjects covered in MBA are Fundamentals of Accounting, Strategy and Marketing Management, Financial Accounting, Entrepreneurship and Business Planning, etc.
Some of the subjects covered under PGDBM are Business Economics, Business English, Financial Accounting and Basic of Mathematics and Statistics.
Is MBA better than PGDBM? If you wish to pursue higher studies, MBA has a better standing as compared to PGDBM, as it is a degree course and is a university-affiliated course. At the time of applying for a job, it is your capabilities that matter more than the degree or diploma that you have.
